Analytics Maturity Assessment

Most organizations describe the past with data. Few use it to shape the future

THE FRAMEWORK

How the assessment works

The Planaletix Analytics Maturity Assessment (AMA) evaluates an organization's analytics programme capability across ten critical dimensions derived from leading international analytics standards, GCC regulatory frameworks and documented GCC analytics market intelligence. It provides a scored maturity profile, GCC regional benchmarking, dimension-level interpretation with recommended actions, and a prioritized analytics programme improvement roadmap.

Across GCC markets, the gap between analytics capability (what organizations can produce analytically) and analytics impact (whether those outputs improve decisions and generate measurable value) is the most prevalent and most expensive analytics programme failure. The ten dimensions are classified by category — Technology, Process or People — so that no single investment vector dominates the maturity picture.

Analytics maturity is the single most important determinant of whether an organization captures value from its analytics investment. The AMA is designed to diagnose the gap between capability and impact, and to provide the evidence base for targeted improvement investment.

WHO IT IS FOR

Built for the leaders accountable for analytics

The AMA is designed for the leaders accountable for an organization's analytics programme and the value it delivers:

  • Chief Data & Analytics Officers and Analytics Directors requiring an independent, GCC-benchmarked maturity baseline
  • Chief Digital Officers and CIOs evaluating analytics as a component of digital transformation
  • CEOs and Managing Directors seeking an independent view of analytics quality, accountability and competitive position
  • CFOs and finance leadership requiring documented analytics ROI and investment justification for board and audit reporting
  • Chief Risk Officers and Audit Committees assessing model risk, data quality risk, algorithmic bias and UAE PDPL compliance risk
  • Boards and investment committees in financial services, energy, telecommunications, government and healthcare
  • GCC government and sovereign entities pursuing UAE AI Strategy 2031 and digital economy objectives
  • Private equity firms and strategic investors assessing analytics capability in due diligence and value creation planning
  • Analytics and data teams establishing a maturity baseline for improvement planning

The AMA evaluates analytics programme maturity at the organizational level — centralized analytics functions, federated business-unit teams, contracted analytics services and cloud analytics platforms where the organization holds governance accountability. It is programme-wide rather than use-case-specific, covering everything from basic business intelligence to production AI and machine learning, and applies to commercial organizations, government ministries and authorities, and sovereign entities across the GCC.

STANDARDS ALIGNMENT

Mapped to the standards you are measured against

The framework draws from and aligns with international standards, research and GCC regulation:

  • DAMA DMBOK v2 — the data management backbone of the framework
  • TDWI Analytics Maturity Model — the five-level structure, weightings and benchmark calibration
  • Gartner Analytics and BI Maturity Model and MIT CISR Digital Platform research
  • UAE AI Strategy 2031 and UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021)
  • DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 and ADGM Data Protection Regulations 2021
  • Saudi Arabia Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree M/19)
  • ISO/IEC 42001:2023, NIST AI Risk Management Framework 1.0 and the OECD AI Principles

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What does the assessment cover?

Ten weighted dimensions: analytics strategy and governance, data readiness and quality, architecture and technology, BI and reporting, advanced analytics and AI, talent, analytics-driven decision making, DataOps, ethics and compliance, and value measurement — 100 structured questions in total.

How is the score calculated?

Each dimension is assessed through ten scenario-anchored questions on a five-level scale and weighted into an overall score. Strategy & Governance and Data Readiness & Quality are Critical Threshold dimensions that limit the overall level when weak.

What do we receive?

An executive summary with priorities, a maturity profile, per-dimension findings, sector and regional benchmarking, and a 6–12 month action plan with the top five priorities, a capability roadmap, governance and operating-model and resourcing recommendations, and use-case recommendations.

Who should complete it?

The individual or small team with the broadest view of the analytics programme — typically the CDAO, Analytics Director or a senior analytics manager — answering for current reality, not plans.
